Minted Toor Dal Recipe

With an ever-changing climate, it is important to consume the right food items to maintain our health. Toor dal helps relieve cough, stomach ache, and any other poisoning effects. Ingredients

2 tbsps Amrutam ghee

½ tsp saunth

⅓ tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

½ tsp coriander powder (dhaniya powder)

Pinch of asafoetida (hing)

¼ cup toor dal

¼ cup split moong dal

¼ tsp mineral salt

½ tsp fresh chopped mint (pudina)

2–3 cups water  

Procedure

1. Melt the ghee in a pressure cooker and add the spices. Cook until you can smell the flavourful aroma.

2. Add the salt, toor dal, split moong dal, and mint and sauté until well coated.

3. Add water. Cover the cooker and bring it to pressure.

4. Turn the heat down and cook for 10–12 minutes until the legumes are soft.

Notes

-Use a regular pot if you don’t have a pressure cooker. Follow the same instructions, but add a little extra water and simmer for about 40 minutes.

-Add more water in the cooker if you want a soupier consistency

-Soak the legumes to reduce cooking time.
